Specifications for Second Year Secondary Exam 2012 / 2013 – Literary Section
A- Language Functions
1- Mini-dialogue: Say where the following mini-dialogue takes place and who the speakers are:
[2 Marks]
A real life mini-dialogue is given. Students are asked to write where the mini-dialogue takes place and who the speakers are. (One mark for the place and half a mark for each speaker)
2- Situations: Write what you would say in each of the following situations: [2 Marks]
Two situations are described briefly but clearly. Students are asked to write the appropriate language form they would say in each situation. (One mark each)
B- Vocabulary & Structure
3- Choice: Choose the right word(s): [2 ½ Marks]
Five multiple-choice items with four options each based on the Set Books are given. Students are asked to choose the right word(s). (Half a mark each)
4- Finding mistakes: Find the mistakes in the following sentences, then correct them: [2 ½ Marks]
Five separate sentences are given. Students are asked to find the mistakes in the sentences given, then correct them. (Half a mark each)
C- Comprehension
5- Read the following passage, then answer the questions: [5 Marks]
An unseen text is provided. Most vocabulary and all structures should be from the Set Books. Students are asked to answer three open-ended questions and two multiple-choice ones.
(One mark for each question)
D- Islamic Selections
6- Answer the following questions: [2 Marks]
Students are asked to answer two questions about the units taught during the academic year term.
(One mark each)
E- Writing [2Marks]
7- Paragraph writing: Write a paragraph of not less than (6) lines on: ….
Students are asked to write a paragraph of not less than (6) lines on/about a topic appealing to their age. Interests, likes, aspirations, etc. . The title of the paragraph should be easy to understand.
OR
Letter or e-mail writing: Write a letter or an e-mail to…..
Students are asked to write a personal ( friendly or family ) letter or an e-mail. The topic of the letter or the e-mail should be easy to understand.
F- Translation [2 Marks]
8- A- Translate into Arabic: (One mark)
One meaningful sentence is given. Students are asked to translate it from English into Arabic.
B- Translate into English: (One mark)
One meaningful sentence is given. Students are asked to translate it from Arabic into English.
NB: Questions confined to the absent and those who failed in the 1st term
